Once we receive your application and fee, we'll set up a child interview and classroom observation.

Questions parents ask
We speak Spanish at home. What does Imagine add?
A whole day in Spanish, with other children, at the age when it matters most. At home your child hears Spanish from one or two people; here they hear it from three teachers and eleven friends, in songs, stories, negotiations over the pink tower, and the words for everything in the room. Most children's Spanish jumps within a few months, and it stays theirs.
Do the teachers really speak only Spanish with the children?
Yes, all day, from buenos días to hasta mañana. Updates to parents come in Spanish or English, whichever you prefer.
How big is the class?
At most twelve children, with three adults in the room: Edith and two assistant teachers.
Do you offer early drop-off or late pickup?
Not right now. Our day is 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday to Friday. If your family needs longer hours, tell us on the tour and we can share the solutions and after-school programs other families have used.
We don't speak Spanish at home. Will my child feel lost?
No. Many children start with no Spanish at all. Teachers use routines, songs, gestures and pictures so a new child can follow the day, and understanding grows within weeks. With parents, we speak English or Spanish, whichever you prefer.
What ages do you take?
Children join us between ages 2 and 5 and share one mixed-age classroom. Younger children learn by watching the older ones; older children learn by helping.
Do you offer part-time schedules?
Yes. Families choose two, three or five days a week, always 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Many start with two days and add more later.
Is there outdoor time?
Yes, as often as the weather allows. We walk to JJ Byrne Playground, a few minutes away, and on rainy days we dance, move and do yoga in our big studio.
Does my child need to be potty trained?
No. Many two-year-olds join us in diapers. Toileting is part of Montessori practical life, and we support it gently and in step with you.
What about lunch and snacks?
Children bring a packed lunch from home and eat together at the table. Helping to prepare and serve snack is one of the children's favorite practical-life jobs.
How much is tuition?
It depends on the schedule. Ask for the current rate sheet when you book a tour. There is a $125 non-refundable registration fee with your application.
How do I apply?
Visit, then complete the enrollment application and pay the registration fee. We'll contact you to set up a child interview and classroom observation, then confirm your start date.
Where exactly are you?
Inside Brooklyn Arts Exchange at 421 5th Avenue (at 8th Street) in Park Slope, third floor, Studio C. The 4th Ave–9th St station (F, G, R) is a few blocks away and the B63 bus stops outside.
What happens after Imagine?
Our children go on to a variety of kindergartens across Brooklyn, including public, independent and dual-language programs. They arrive confident, independent, and comfortable in two languages.
Come see it for yourself.
Tours take about 30 minutes and children are welcome. We enroll year-round when there's space in the classroom.
