Introduction
The Montessori method of education represents an ingenious combination of theory, a set of rules, ideas, principles, and methods applied to an event or topic in an attempt to explain it, and practice, putting the theory in effect.
An Italian Physician turned educator, Dr. Maria Montessori spent many years observing and working with children. In the process, she built on some of the ideas of others who had worked with children, and she developed and rendered her own ideas, materials, and methods. Starting in the early 1900s and fro the next 50 years, she developed an encouraging, stimulating program where children could learn the skills they needed to eventually become responsible, productive, independent, and loving citizens of the world.
Our Philosophy
The approach at Imagine South Slope Montessori Spanish Immersion Program is holistic and aims to develop the whole child. We believe children's early years from birth to six are the period when they harbor the greatest capacity to learn. At Imagine South Slope Montessori, we strive to provide an enriched, stimulating environment which fosters order, coordination, concentration, and independence where the child is an active explorer and can develop self-direction and a true love of learning. Our role is to nurture the growth of the child cognitively, socially, emotionally, and physically.
